About us

The Asian Centre Waltham Forest (TACWF) is a charity limited by guarantee; it is currently situated in a 19th Century locally listed former school building, set in a conservation area. Our primary purpose is to provide and facilitate development and support services for Asian communities residing in Waltham Forest. London Borough of Waltham Forest (LBWF) has commissioned TACWF to help develop Asian communities and to manage this former school building.

A board that consists of local residents manages TACWF, elected councillors further support the board, one from each of the three main political parties, and this is then further enhanced by membership of users and third sector partners.

TACWF currently provides and facilitates a range of services such as adult learning including ICT and Tai Chi, national curriculum education for new arrivals who have not found places in mainstream schools; sessions for Asian elderly men, a holiday play scheme, a youth club, martial arts lessons, supplementary GCSE classes, yoga classes, badminton and circuit training for women, home work club for Bangladeshi children and much more.

Currently the building is used for community development and engagement activities during weekdays and weekend mornings.  Weekend afternoons and evenings are mainly reserved for public hall hire to help secure much needed revenue. Although TACWF provides responsive services for Asian communities, we are committed to encouraging and contributing to developing cohesive communities therefore, all of are services are available to all. Through our partners we are able to offer diverse services to Waltham Forest’s diverse communities that respond to local development and deprivation data and national development trends.
